Manav Sewa Ashram (also named the Human Service Centre) is a home in Bharatpur, Nepal, for people taken off the streets with varying degrees of disability – both mental and physical. There are 51 people currently living in the home, but this number changes as more people are picked up off the street, and some individuals pass away from illness The people living in this home were picked up off the street at night when the members would go out to find them. They would go at nighttime because this is when they would find them sleeping on the street, often among the street dogs and rubbish, where they would search for food.
There is no government funding for this organisation; instead individuals in the community who are involved with the centre make donations. They donate money/clothing/food on their birthday, rather than receiving gifts themselves.
